President's Message

We are coming up on one year since our officers were sworn into our local chapter. I would like to recognize both Doug VerBockel and Scott Wollenenzien who will be completing their terms as the Treasurer and past President this year.  Many thanks for all your help, enthusiasm, and experience that you brought to the table over the past few years.

Our goal this year was to continue building on the foundation that was created in the past years providing value to both the members and the companies that they work for; we asked the question “why should we join the chapter”?   We focused on creating and enhancing tools for professional development, communications, and career enhancement.  Our Forum was created so members can reach out to fellow members for both advice and related facilities information. Located on our chapter’s member portion of the website, it acts as the central hub for subject matter experts to join in the conversations.  We also developed and piloted our Mentoring program between new to the profession with experienced members.  Lastly, our chapter is sponsoring an instructor lead FMP training program that can be taken by both the Associate and Professional members.

A few milestones this year were met, the first coming from our Service Committee raising enough funds to make a $2,500 donation to the Penfield’s Children’s Center. This is a great cause and an excellent opportunity to give back to our community.  Our second milestone is that we will be granting three student Scholarships this years, two will be giving to local college students and the third will benefit from our Ken Laga Memorial Golf outing and will be awarded during World Workplace being held this October in Charlotte, NC.

We have built a great structure and continue to build towards the future with the help, hard work and dedication from each member our leadership team and committee members.  I would also like to reach out to our sponsors and thank you for your continued support and expertise. It has been a great year, I look forward to continued success in the future.

Thanks,

Mike

Get involved -- join a committee!

Program Committee members help plan educational programs, building/construction site tours, and a number of social events throughout the year.  Members meet bi-monthly, currently at Moe’s Irish Tavern on Highway 100 and Bluemound.  We brainstorm and coordinate new events/tours.  Typically each member is assigned to coordinate an event.  Currently along with our monthly programs, planning is in the works for our annual Member Appreciation Event in October at Veloce Go Cart Racetrack and Point Burger Bar.  The Programs Committee is a great way to get involved and meet our members along with the opportunity to have a say in our Chapters future events.

Please contact Brett Heikkila, Program Chair if interested in joining the Programs Committee: bheikkila@buildingservice.com

The SEW IFMA Education Committee is charged with providing educational opportunities to all the members of SEW IFMA through educational programs, student scholarships and member professional development. It will work to ensure that the member educational and certification needs are met.

Please contact Tyler Yaudas, Education Chair, if interested in joining the Education Committee:  tyler.yaudas@pauldavis.com
